Bruce Barton, Director
Bruce is a 52-year veteran of SAR and public safety. Starting in High School in 1972 as volunteer searcher with members of is class they helped the Sherriff look for a missing hunter. The hook was set!
He became one of the first EMT's in PA in the 70’s, volunteered on the ambulance and started one of, if not the first SAR teams in PA and on the east coast. He was operations officer for the 1988 State Department canine team response to the Soviet Armenia earthquake,
Bruce coordinated our recovery efforts for Hurricanes Andrew, Opal and Katrina. In 2001 he organized RI Canine Recovery Task Force efforts to support the NYPD and FBI with Canine Recovery operations at the Fresh Kills Landfill for two weeks.
He has managed or responded to over a thousand SAR, Disasters and Recovery missions in his many years and is an author and instructor of many related training classes. Bruce brings a lifetime of emergency services and disaster management and communications expertise and 35 years of canine operational and instructional professionalism.
Bruce is the Chief of our PA state Search and Rescue, Recovery Teams. He is working, his 5th SARR canine Dallas in HRD/Recovery.
Emy is a 17 year member and RI board member. She is an experienced canine handler, trainer and our Canine Coordinator. She is working her 4th SARR canine Finn and jointly they have dozens of live and recovery finds over the years of service. She is a canine trainer with 35 years experince. Emy is a NASAR SAR Tech 2 and past instructor.
