Emy Wilbur, board member and canine Coordinator

Bruce Barton, Director, K9 Handler

Bruce is a 53-year veteran of SAR and public safety. Starting in High School in 1972 as volunteer searcher with members of is class, when they helped the Sherriff look for a missing hunter. The hook was set!

He became one of the first EMT's in PA  in the 70’s, volunteered on the ambulance and started one of, if not the first SAR team in PA and on the east coast. He was the operations officer for the 1988 State Department OFDA, USAR canine team response to the Soviet Armenia earthquake,

Bruce coordinated our recovery efforts for Hurricanes Anvdrew, Opal and Katrina. In 2001 he organized the RI Canine Recovery Task Force efforts to support the NYPD and FBI with Canine Recovery dog operations at the Fresh Kills Landfill for two weeks after 9/11. He was one of the driving Force in the development of the HRD touch indication for Recovery dogs.

He has managed or responded to over a thousand wilderness SAR, Disaster and Recovery missions in his many years and is an author and instructor of many related training classes and SAR communications technology. Bruce brings a lifetime of emergency services and disaster management and communications expertise and 37 years of canine operational and instructional professionalism to our operations.

Bruce is the Chief of our PA state Search and Rescue, Recovery Teams. He is working, his 5th SARR canine Dallas in HRD/Recovery.

Bruce has many years as SAR programs instructor in Search Managment, Canine search, rescue and recovery. PAFBC Water rescue and boat operations. Disaster and SAR Communications operations and technology. He is the Sr Technologist of our Deployed Technologies Unit supporting SAR, Disaster response and related technology.

Emy is a 18 year member and RI board member. She is an experienced canine handler, trainer and our Canine Coordinator.

She is working her 4th SARR canine Finn and 5th canine Blitz. Emy jointly they have dozens of live and recovery finds over the years of service. Emy, Blitz and Finn have completed multiple NASAR, RITA and AWDA certifications. She is a canine trainer with 36 years experince.

Emy is an experienced K9 trainer, working with many K9 teams over the past 16 years.

Emy is a NASAR SAR Tech 2 and past instructor. She instructs multiple SAR programs.

Emy and Finn, are members of our Canine Recovery Task Force.
